Kip retreats back to his house, where he refuses to emerge out of embarrassment. He is none too pleased at seeing Chelsea and Kip together. Just then, Larry appears, surprising the both of them. She expresses frustration at Larry's obsession with baseball, wishing that he was more "well-rounded." On her porch, Kip confesses that he wants to be more than just friends with her, and he kisses her. There they discover they have similar tastes in music ("I Dig the Oldies") and they strike up a rapport.Ĭhelsea and Kip's relationship develops over the course of a month, and she tells him that her boyfriend Larry is coming from Cleveland to visit her. Her attitude towards Kip improves and they go out to a nearby diner together. Taking Wally's advice, Kip talks to Chelsea again and apologizes for his earlier behavior, asking if they can be friends. Wally helps Kip realize that Chelsea is likely feeling alienated in her new surroundings and needs a friend to help her adjust.
He tries to ask her out, but she rejects him, claiming that she has a boyfriend in Cleveland. Outwardly, Kip appears to be indifferent to her, but in truth he finds her attractive ("I Got it Bad"). A new girl named Chelsea moves to town from Cleveland, attracting a great deal of attention at Kip's school. This episode features several musical numbers.
